HARDNESS TESTING

Material hardness is a characteristic of materials that is measured as resistance to indentation using a fixed load and standardized indenter.  The smaller the indentation, the harder the surface.  Hardness testing is useful for selecting materials, confirming heat treating processes and/or verifying wear resistance, impact resistance, toughness, etc.

ETI INC. can test hardness on a variety of hardness scales including Rockwell Superficial tests which minimally disrupt the testing surface.

Indenters: “N” Brale, “C” Brale, & Ø1/16” Carbide Ball

Values read in scales using the above indenters can be converted by the machine to other scales: HRC, HRA, HRD, HR15N, HR30N, HR45N, HV, HB, HK
